Its function is also to effectively deal with a multitude of challenges we face in our life. Transactional Analysis uses ego state as the fundamental unit of personality structure. Eric Berne says that when the ego is affected the mind is affected, and when the brain is affected the body is affected. It is mentioned earlier on that “ego state is the actually experienced reality of one’s mental and bodily ego with the contents of the lived through period”. Therefore the health of ego states affects both mind and body. The health of personality also affects both mind and body.
